How can today’s Print and Finishing Operations implement “green” initiatives and become more eco-friendly?

At Spiral, our aim is to make Earth Day more than a one-day event. Our organization has made significant changes to reduce our carbon footprint with our green initiatives that make Spiral environmentally friendly all year-round.

Here’s how we try to make a difference.

Recycling Program:

Last year Spiral recycled over 200,000 pounds of paper, cardboard, plastic, and steel wire through office and manufacturing operations.

Energy conservation:

We’ve added motion sensor controlled lighting in both offices and warehouses so lights automatically turn off when no one is in the area. The warehouse lighting replacement and reconfiguration help to reduce energy usage.

Solar Power:

Back in 2012, Spiral installed a solar power grid. Currently our power grid generates over 1 million kilowatt hours, which is enough to power 132 homes.

So how can today’s Print & Finishing Operations implement green initiatives and become more eco-friendly?

Utilize Energy Efficient Equipment: Evaluate your binding equipment, older finishing equipment does not consume energy as efficiently as new machines. Today’s newest generations of bindery technologies not only increase productivity and efficiencies but also designed to reduce the amount of energy they may be using.

Keep Machines Well Maintained: Comprehensive maintenance of binding equipment can enhance performance which maintains performance and reduces energy required to operate the equipment.

Minimize Waste: Similar to how you would turn a light off when leaving a room, binding equipment can also be shut off to save energy during extended breaks.

There are tons of ways to contribute & we hope you too are taking steps to make our Earth a greener place!.
